Kosher wine tasting in Chianti

Italy's only fully kosher winery

Kosher wine tasting in Chianti

per person

A kosher wine tasting in the Chianti hills, at the one estate in Italy whose entire production is kosher-certified — a family-run winery in the heart of the Chianti Classico country, between Siena and Florence.

Kosher travellers in Tuscany usually watch the wine country through a car window. This is the day that opens the door.

What the visit is

  • A walk through the estate — vineyards, cellar, and the story of how a Tuscan family farm became Italy’s only fully kosher winery, with the certification woven into every stage of the harvest and the cellar work
  • A guided tasting of the estate’s wines: Chianti Classico and the rest of the range, all kosher, many mevushal — with olive oil from the same hills
  • Optionally, dinner à la carte in the estate’s kosher restaurant — one of very few places on earth where you can eat a full Tuscan dinner, certified kosher, looking at the vines it came from

Why this matters more than a normal winery stop

Kosher wine has existed in Italy for centuries — the ghettos made their own — but a working Chianti estate where everything is kosher is unique. There is no separate “kosher line”, no roped-off corner: the whole farm keeps the rules, which means you taste exactly what any wine critic tastes. For observant families this is the rarest kind of travel experience: nothing adapted, nothing simulated, no compromise between the place and the practice.

Making the day work

  • From Florence or Siena: the estate sits about half an hour from Siena, an hour from Florence, by private car — I arrange the driver
  • Pairs perfectly with a day in Siena: cathedral and Campo in the afternoon, tasting and kosher dinner in the evening, drop-off at your hotel after
  • Works equally as the closing evening of a Tuscany day on a Venice–Florence–Rome journey — many of my guests taste here on the transfer day between Venice and Florence
  • Booking is essential, and dinner reservations carry the estate’s own confirmation terms — I handle both

Questions people ask

Is there a fully kosher winery in Tuscany?
Yes — one. A family-run estate in the Chianti Classico hills is the only winery in Italy whose entire production is kosher-certified. There is no separate “kosher line” and no roped-off corner: the whole farm keeps the rules.

Are the wines mevushal?
The range is kosher throughout and many of the wines are mevushal. The tasting covers Chianti Classico and the rest of the estate’s production, with olive oil from the same hills.

Can you eat there?
Yes, à la carte in the estate’s kosher restaurant — one of very few places where you can eat a full Tuscan dinner, certified kosher, looking at the vines it came from. Booking is essential and the estate has its own confirmation terms.

How far is it from Florence or Siena?
About half an hour from Siena and an hour from Florence, by private car. I arrange the driver.

What does it combine with?
A day in Siena — cathedral and Campo in the afternoon, tasting and dinner in the evening — or the transfer day between Venice and Florence on a longer journey.
