Babysitting service in Rome

An English-speaking babysitter in Rome, at your hotel or apartment, so that one evening of the trip belongs to the adults.

It is a small service and it changes a holiday. Rome is a late-dining city, the good restaurants seat at nine, and a four-year-old is not going to make it.

Who the sitters are

Every babysitter I work with is experienced, personally vetted and chosen as much for temperament as for qualifications — a stranger walking into a hotel room where a child is already tired needs to be the kind of person that child warms to in five minutes.

They speak English, and between them French, Spanish and Hebrew. You are matched to a sitter who speaks your children’s language, not simply to whoever is free.

When it is used

• Evenings out, at the hotel or apartment, with the children in their own beds
• During a tour, when part of the group wants the catacombs or the Vatican and the youngest members emphatically do not
• Around a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or a family event, where the small children need somewhere to be
• Daytime cover so that parents can have a few hours to themselves

Practical points

• Book ahead where you can. Friday and Saturday evenings go first
• Tell me ages, languages and anything that matters — allergies, routines, whether food needs to be kosher. All of it can be arranged
• Sitters come to you, anywhere in central Rome
